Meet our Dental Team

United Community Health Center (UCHC) is fortunate to have a team of skilled dental providers who are dedicated to ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care. They work collaboratively, all pulling together to achieve our mission and to do so in efficient and effective ways. Supporting these skilled providers is a staff of dental assistants, from front desk registration staff, AHCCS and other assistance program specialists and billing team. It is through the collaboration of all these workers that UCHC is able to provide our patients with the quality healthcare experience they expect and deserve.


Dental Director: Dr. Arturo J Sosa, DDS, MBS


Dr. Arturo J Sosa, DDS, MBS graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Biology and a Minor in Spanish. He received his Master’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences from Midwestern University. He holds a Doctorate Degree in Dental Surgery from West Virginia University, and completed his General Practice Residency at the University of Utah. Dr. Sosa is a member of the AZDA, ADA, and NNOHA. During his educational tenure, Dr. Sosa received an American Dental Association Foundation Scholarship along with multiple WVU Dental School awards.

Prior to joining United Community Health Center, Dr. Sosa was a staff dentist at North Country Health Care in Flagstaff, AZ. Dr. Sosa’s hobbies include spending time with his wife and three kids. They like to cook, do challenging and fun things, go on hikes, fishing, and anything Swimming. Dr. Sosa’s experience and enthusiasm are a welcomed new addition to UCHC’s Dental Care for kids.




Dentist: Elizabeth I. Katz, DMD, Board Certified Pediatric Dentist


Dr. Elizabeth Katz is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist who specializes in the dental care of infants, children, teens, and those with Special Medical Needs. Dr. Katz is originally from the Scranton, PA area. She attended the University of Arizona, where she graduated in 2000 with a B.S. degree in Health Sciences. After graduation, Dr. Katz attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA from 2000-2004, where she received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) with Honors in Pediatric Dentistry. From 2004-2007, she attended and completed a three-year residency specializing in Pediatric Dentistry at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA, where she received a Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry. Additionally, Dr. Katz elected to further her credentials in Pediatric Dentistry by opting to become a Board Certified (Diplomate) Pediatric Dentist by studying and testing for another 2 years.

After graduation, Dr. Katz decided to move back to Tucson because of her fond memories of its beauty and warm people during her college years. Since 2007, she has cared for children in several health and special needs clinics. From 2010-2012, she also served as the Head Clinical Attending for Arizona’s first Pediatric Dentistry Residency. Currently, Dr. Katz cares for the children of the United Community Health Center. In addition, Dr. Katz serves on staff at UMC, where she cares for the hematology and oncology inpatient children.

Dr. Katz has a passion for good old fashioned care by establishing relationships with her patients and their families. She is trained in multiple aspects of Pediatric Dentistry that include preventative care, restorative treatment, growth and development, early orthodontic therapy, non pharmacological and pharmacological behavior guidance techniques , and Special Medical Needs.

When Dr. Katz is not caring for patients, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their son. Dr. Katz also enjoys traveling, running, skiing, and baking. Dr. Katz competes regularly in open water swimming, running, and triathlon events.




Dental Hygienist: Melinda Prado, RDH


Melinda Prado was born and raised in Arizona. She has been in the dental field for over 15 years as front desk and office manager. She graduated with High Honors from the Pima Community College Dental Hygiene Program in 2011, where she served as Chairperson of Community Dental Health for her class. She joined our team at United Community Health Center in November of 2011.

As a prevention specialist, Melinda enjoys educating her patients about their oral health and loves finding new ways to motivate each individual to take care of their teeth and gums. She has a passion for serving her community and treats every patient as her own family.

Melinda enjoys spending free time with her daughter. They love taking road trips to the beaches of San Diego as often as possible. You will also find them every year at Tucson Comic Con looking for items to add to their collections.
